Welcome to the first issue of BDAIC Monthly. We're an applied data & AI lab at Belmont University — students, developers, and staff building data pipelines, applications, and AI tools for the university and for nonprofit and industry partners. Each month, we'll share a little of what we've been up to. Here's June.
What we shipped
A public Data Lake, now speaking to AI tools
Our data lake now supports MCP (Model Context Protocol) — the open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude connect directly to live tools and data. We stood up a public, read-only endpoint so AI tools can query our curated datasets safely.
Read-only by design, authenticated, and rate-limited. If you build with AI tools, you can now point them at real BDAIC data.
An AI Literacy Framework, heading to a Fall pilot
In partnership with Belmont's College of Business, we're building a campus-wide AI Literacy Framework — a tiered curriculum to help faculty and students use AI thoughtfully and well. Two tools are taking shape: an Assignment Generator that builds AI-literacy components into coursework, and a Comprehensive Assessment Platform to measure and support that learning.
Level 1 pilots this Fall — more as it rolls out.
